Software defined Networking (SDN)
Classic networks are based on switches, routers and firewalls. These provide individual VLANs or networks at a specific location. Today's requirements for reliability or redundancy call for one and the same network (broadcast domain or VLAN) at different locations. Geographically independent communication is therefore desired. This is exactly where VMware NSX can help and deploy the same network in different locations. Another important topic is the possibility of microsegmenation. Traditionally, only complete networks were protected from one another by firewalls. Today, a single virtual machine can be viewed in isolation and given firewall rules.
These and other topics are covered in NSX courses such as VMware NSX Install Configure Manage or VMware NSX-T Data Center Install Configure Manage.
